Beer or Vodka:
Did you know that you can make your silver jewellery shine again by using beer/vodka? Pour a bit of beer on to a soft cloth. Rub it gently over the tarnished silver jewellery piece and clean it with a clean and dry cloth. In case you prefer to use Vodka, immerse a napkin into vodka and use it to clean your tarnished silver or stone jewellery.
So next time, when you pour a drink, save some for your jewellery as well.
Club Soda:
For this remedy to work, all you need to do is to take a glass full of club soda, soak the tarnished silver jewellery in it and keep it overnight to give it a shiny appearance. Take the jewellery out in the morning, wipe it with a soft and dry cloth and you’re all set to look all stunning in your shining silver jewellery.
Aluminum Foil:
Arrange a small aluminium foil in a bowl and pour hot water in it. Add one tbsp of bleach-free powered laundry detergent and soak the tarnished silver jewellery piece in the mixture for one minute. Rinse well with running water and clean it with a dry and soft cloth. Store the jewellery piece in a separate pouch and keep it away from the moisture and perfumes.
Ammonia solution:
Ammonia solution is also a great remedy to clean tarnished silver jewellery.
How to make Ammonia solution:
Take 1-2 tbsp of ammonia, 1 tbsp of a liquid dishwasher and 1/4 cup of water and mix well in a container. Dip a cotton ball or a soft toothbrush in the solution, and clean the surface of the tarnished jewellery gently. If the tarnish is too thick then dip the silver jewellery piece in the solution and rinse it properly under running water. Use a soft and dry cloth to clean it and store in a separate pouch.
Ketchup:
One of the easiest home remedies to clean your tarnished silver jewellery. Here's how to do it: Take a small amount of ketchup on a paper towel, and rub gently over the tarnished areas. If you cannot feel the difference in the silver then let the ketchup sit for another 15 minutes, then rub with a soft cloth and rinse clean. You can even use a toothbrush to clean in between the crevices.
