To get you an idea about the 4 C’s and their importance, we have curated a guide.

Ready to explore?

Let’s get started!

Diamond’s Cut:

The diamond cut makes the most crucial part of the selection and directly impacts a diamond’s beauty. Only 55% of all diamonds sold online are excellent cuts. Rest, some are stunning, while others are an average cut.

Diamond Cut refers to the quality of a diamond’s angles, proportions, symmetrical facets, brilliance, fire, scintillation and finishing details. These factors account for a diamond’s ability to sparkle. The overall aesthetic appeal of a diamond is the result of its cut.

It is important to invest in a diamond with an excellent cut. You can even reduce your focus in other areas like Clarity or Color to ensure an exceptional and excellent Cut.

Diamond’s Color:

The color of an authentic diamond is colorless and clear like a water droplet. The color C is graded in terms of how colorless a diamond is.

The GIA grades diamonds from D to Z, with D being the most colorless, and Z containing noticeable brown or yellow hues. This grading is usually reflected in the pricing of diamonds. In most of the cases, you cannot tell the difference between two diamonds with adjacent color grading but the prices may differ significantly.

Before going for online jewellery shopping or buying the diamond from an offline store, just make sure that color does not distract or interfere with white and colored light reflection.

Diamond’s Clarity:

Diamond’s clarity tells about the how clean the diamond is to a naked eye.

Clarity is often the least important consideration because most of the inclusions are microscopic and cannot be seen with a naked eye.

Before going for online jewellery shopping or buying the diamond from an offline store, make sure that the diamond is eye clean. Also, look out for any inclusions that might interfere with the light reflection. You can also review the stone to see if it is eye clean or ask for confirmation from an expert. Don’t fall for a certificate because it won’t tell you about the clarity. You won’t have any idea about how a diamond’s blemishes will impact the stone’s appearance and brilliance.

Diamond’s Carat:

Most of the people tend to confuse Carat weight with the size of the diamond but this is a myth. Carat refers to the weight of the diamond and not the size.

The overall appearance and brilliance should carry more importance as compared to the Carat of the diamond. For example, a mediocre and poorly cut 1.5 Carat diamond may not shine as brightly as a stunning and excellently cut 1.0 Carat diamond. Therefore, be open to lowering your Carat weight to ensure you purchase a stunning diamond.

With these 4 C’s in mind, remember that a diamond is a precious investment, therefore, should be looked at in totality, with every C analysed precisely.

Next time when you decide to go for online jewellery shopping or purchase the precious stone from an offline store, evaluate and then choose wisely.

Till then, Happy Shopping Fellas!
