Before getting started with your wedding jewellery shopping, the essential thing that needs to be kept in to account is your wedding dress. The wedding dress is the core point of all your wedding jewellery shopping. Firstly, shop for your bridal ensemble and thereafter, match the jewellery accordingly. The trend is to keep your ensemble minimal and pair it with the maximum jewellery. The pastels paired with heavy work handmade jewellery is the latest trend. If you’re also in favour of going for something similar then just go with the flow and you’re all set to win millions of hearts on your big day.

Something Unusual

It’s always fun to add something unusual to your wedding jewellery trousseau. Contrary to popular belief, the colour black is really catching up as the latest unconventional trend and brides are loving it. When mixed with gold, diamonds, polkis or other semi-precious/precious stones, it looks stunning and stands out really well. Adding something unusual is the perfect key to balance between modern and traditional. So, Ladies! Don’t shy from including black color in your wedding jewellery collection.

Keep it light

Keep your look subtle and your jewellery light, especially when it comes to earrings. You have to wear the jewellery for quite a long time, therefore, invest in light-weighted jewellery set for wedding. If you go for heavyweight jewellery then there are good chances that you might start feeling all heavy and irritated after some time. You don’t want that, right?

Think of a long-term investment

You don’t want to invest in something that will look old and dated in another 10-20 years. Therefore, think long term and choose wisely. Also, go for something which can be worn even after your big day. The wedding jewellery is generally very heavy and it is rarely used after one’s wedding, therefore, look out for something detachable and reversible jewellery pieces because they are convenient and can be used in the future.

Pick what suits you

Before shopping for your wedding jewellery, keep certain things in mind. Pay a little more attention to the things like the budget, the wedding occasion, the wedding ensemble, your skin tone, your face shape and hairstyle and then choose accordingly. If possible, customize your own jewellery set for wedding. This will help you do the right justice to your look on your big day.

These were some of the dos and donts that you should keep in mind while picking your wedding jewellery. You can either go for offline shopping or online jewellery shopping. If you’re going for the latter, just make sure that you buy jewellery from a reputed online jewellery store.

5 Things we bet you didn’t know about Platinum Jewellery

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word Platinum Jewellery? Rich white lustrous color? The subtle elegance with a hint of sophistication that it provides? Or the type of jewellery that can easily blend into your everyday routine wear while maintaining that classy look for the special occasions as well? Well! Platinum Jewellery does it all.

Platinum is Hardest of the precious metals, Platinum is also known as WHITE GOLD and is one of the rarest and purest metals found in the nature. The term Platina means “little Silver”, therefore, the white Gold appears all shiny and lustrous. Sometimes, platinum jewellery is also mistaken for silver jewellery.

Did you know that during the World War 2, Platinum was deemed as the strategic metal in the US, therefore, the non-military use of Platinum was banned in the US during that time. The Platinum jewellery was disavowed by people. We bet you didn’t know that. There’s so much more to this precious metal than it seems and here are some of the facts that we bet you didn’t know about the Platinum.

Platinum’s Serene white color

The rich white luster of Platinum is very attractive and alluring. The serene white color of Platinum compliments the yellow color of Gold and can be combined with the diamonds as well to give that subtle hint of elegance to your look. The Platinum doesn’t change its color but it does get scratched. If you’re Platinum Jewellery has been scratched then don’t worry because, with the Platinum jewellery, there is no material lost from the scratch. To make it all new and shiny, all you need to do is to take it to the nearby jewellery and get it polished and tadaa! you’re all set to flaunt your contemporary charm.

Platinum is rarer than Gold

Did you know that all the Platinum ever mined can fit into an average size living room? Yeah, we were amazed too! Not only this, did you also know that only 133 tons of Platinum have been mined as compared to 1782 tons of Gold. The mining of Platinum is not an easy job. To produce 1 ounce of Platinum, 10 tons of Platinum must be mined and it takes about 6 months for the refining process.

Platinum’s Purity

Platinum is considered to be the purest of all metals and this is due to the fact that it is the only metal used in jewellery that is 95% pure. The 18 karat Platinum is considered to be 75% pure and 14 karat is 58% pure. By law, the Platinum jewellery must have the marking of 950 PT or 950 Plat. At 95%, the metal will never tarnish or fade, therefore, if you’re looking to have a jewellery band that will not get tarnished 30-50-and even 100 years down the line then Platinum is the perfect option for you. So next time you go for online jewellery shopping, don’t shy in investing in Platinum Jewellery. With platinum jewellery, you can actually have the chance to pass it down to your generations.

Platinum’s amazing Strength and Durability

The one major reason for the popularity of Platinum Jewellery among people is its amazing strength and durability. If you’re looking for something for an eternity of a lifetime then go for Platinum Jewellery. Platinum is highly irresistible and indestructible, thereby making it one of the strongest metals. Platinum can ideally secure diamonds, gold, and other precious metals.

Platinum’s Medicinal Properties

Platinum is also used for a variety of medicinal purposes like dentistry, cancer-fighting drugs, making of precision instruments and laboratory testing pieces of equipment. Platinum is also used to make non-corroding replacement parts for the human body, such as joint replacements.

Platinum jewellery is surely a long-term investment, a costly one though. Investing in Platinum is considered to be a more volatile investment than Gold. If you’re also thinking to invest in Platinum then just make sure that you get the purest Platinum available. Buy it from a renowned brand or a reputed online jewellery store and you’re good to go.

5 ways to clean Brass Jewellery at home

As much as Brass Jewellery looks attractive, it easily gets tarnished as well. If you are looking for the ways to clean the dirt and bring out the shine from your brass jewellery then we’ve got you covered. To start with, you need to be sure about the material of your artificial jewellery. To test the quality of brass in your jewellery, take a magnet and hold it against your jewellery piece. If it sticks then your jewellery is only brass plated. Also, check out whether your jewellery is lacquered or non-lacquered, which can be tested by looking at the finish of your Jewellery. If its coating has a protective finish then the jewellery is lacquered, otherwise, it is non-lacquered. If you have lacquered jewellery piece then simply clean it with a damp cloth and you’re good to go.

If you have non-lacquered Jewellery then don’t worry, we have got you guys covered as well. Check out a list of natural ways to clean Brass based artificial jewellery:

Soap and warm water:

Using soap and water is one of the easiest methods for naturally cleaning brass based artificial jewellery at your home. Here’s how to do it: Take warm water and a small amount of liquid dish soap, mix well and use your fingers/palm or a soft toothbrush (not a harsh one) to gently scrub the surface of your Jewellery item. After the scrubbing, rinse the item thoroughly. Brass is prone to retain water, therefore, be sure to dry the metal well afterward and dry it thoroughly.

Ketchup:

Take a small amount of ketchup and gently scrub the brass based artificial jewellery piece with your fingers or a soft toothbrush. Once your scrub it, leave it for a minute and then rinse it well. You can repeat this method twice or thrice. Just make sure to dry it well after the cleaning. So, next time when you visit KFC or dominoes, don’t mind picking up extra ketchup packets.

Lemon:

Lemon can be used in two ways to clean the Brass based artificial jewellery.

Lemon Juice:

Squeeze half a lemon into a cup of water. Then add a teaspoon of salt until dissolved and stir the mixture. Place your Jewellery in the mixture and remove it when it gets cleaned properly. Rinse the item and dry completely.

Salted Lemon:

Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle some salt on the open side of a lemon half (on the pulp) and rub it over the brass Jewellery item. Use your fingers or a soft toothbrush to clean the item. After the scrubbing wash and dry the brass Jewellery item thoroughly.

Vinegar, Salt, and Flour:

For this method, you need 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ cup of vinegar. Combine the salt and vinegar and mix well. Add flour until the mixture becomes a paste. Scrub the brass item with your hands or a soft toothbrush and leave it for around 8-10 minutes. Rinse the brass with warm water and dry thoroughly. Don’t forget to dry it thoroughly.

These were some of the home remedies to clean Brass based artificial jewellery. All of the methods are very easy to execute, require a mini fraction of your time and are cost effective as well. Also, using natural ways is a much safer alternative as compared to using harsh chemical cleansers available in the market.
